There are two Alcazar entrances, however, one of those entrances is only used during concerts and special events. To visit the Alcazar Seville, all visitors must use the main entrance - the Lion’s Gate or the Puerta del Leon.

Puerta del Leon or the Lion’s Gate Entrance

This is the main Alcazar entrance to be used by visitors. It is called the Lion’s Gate or the Puerta del León, after the enigmatic emblem of a lion carrying a cross, right above the door. Although the gate or door is ancient, the emblem was added only in 1892.

How to reach? The Lion’s Gate entrance is located at Plaza Virgen de los Reyes, just opposite the Cathedral. You can get to this entrance by tram, metro, or bus. Take the line T1 and alight at the Puerta de Jerez station if you’re traveling by tram. If you’re taking the metro, you can take line L1 and alight at the Puerta Jerez station. Bus numbers 03, 05, A2, C3, 21, 40, and 41 will get you to the Lion’s Gate entrance at Alcazar.

Entrance timings: This entrance is open daily from 9:30am to 5pm.

Puerta Alcoba

The Puerta Alcoba entrance is located on the west side of the fort, on the opposite end of the Lion’s Gate. Keep in mind that this entrance is not for regular visits and is only open during concerts and other special events. 

How to reach? This entrance is located at the corner of Avenue de Menendez Pelayo. The easiest way to reach this entrance is to take a bus. The following bus routes will get you to the Puerta Alcoba entrance - 05, 21, 34, A1, A3, A4, and C4.

Entrance timings: This entrance is only open during special occasions such as events and concerts.
